Papers: Bashful Blue Designer Series Paper (DSP) Patterns (retired), Bashful Blue cardstock (CS), Pawsitively Prints DSP (retired), Not Quite Navy CS, Pumpkin Pie CS - Textured


Stamps: Full of Life, All in the Family, Love You Much, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink:  Classic Basic Black or Staz On Jet Black, Classic Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker


Accessories: Stamp-a-ma-jig, paper trimmer with scoring and cutting blades, paper snips, bone folder, 1/2" circle punch, Word Window punch, small star punch, scallop circle punch, Big Shot and multi-purpose platform with 2 cutting pads, Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits, 1/2" Pumpkin Pie striped grosgrain ribbon - x 7", Snail adhesive, Dotto, Sticky Strip, 2-way glue pen, Simply Scrappin' kit - Rock-a-Bye-Boy (retired).


Non-Stampin' Up! accessories:  Fray Check (fabric stores), ruler and pencil


 Steps to create card base:


Stand by, I have to re-type the entire thing!  For some reason Blogger won't accept it in the format it is in and I don't know how to fix that.   Ugh!!!



Steps to create card base:



1. Be sure to look at the pictures on the previous post to help with these steps.


2. Cut three pieces of Bashful Blue DSP (Designer specialty paper) and/or CS (cardstock) to 6 1/2" X  4" and score each piece at 1/2" on one 4" end of each page.


3. At the opposite end of each piece, mark 1 1/4" in from the end on both 6 1/2" sides.  Then on the 4" edge, measure in at 1 1/4" on both sides and mark.


4. Using a ruler, draw a light line from each 1 1/4" end to the 1 1/4" side closest to it.  With paper trimmer, cut off these corners to make the ends of your tag.


5. Center the 1/2" circle punch between the sides and edge of each of your tag ends and punch.


6. Take the piece that will be the front of the book and place sticky strip along the scored 4" edge. Make sure the adhesive is placed on the side that you want to use for the front of the project.  Fold the scored end under so that the sticky strip is now on the inside front cover.


7. Take the next page and, matching the DSP or CS up against the inside front cover, fold the scored end inward so that both scored edges come together between the two pages.


8. Remove the sticky strip and press these two pages together.


9. Take the next page and put sticky strip along the scored edge of the back side of the project.  Then fold that edge inward (away from back page) so it comes up against the second page.  Remove the sticky strip and press the back page to the second page.  All scored edges should now be on the inside of the pages.


10. Cut 2  4" x 4" pieces of paper from the Pawsitively Prints DSP.


11. Cut 1  4" x 4" piece of coordinating paper from Pawsitively Prints DSP.


12. Fold each of the 3 pieces in half in one direction, unfold them and fold them again in the opposite direction.


13. Unfold all pieces and turn them over.  Fold each piece diagonally in one direction, unfold them and fold them again in the opposite direction.


14. For each piece, put two opposite corners together together and hold them at the tips in one hand. Turn your palm toward you until it looks like you have two connected diamond shapes.  While still holding this piece, take your other hand and push the two diamond shapes together until you have a small square.  Use your bone folder to sharpen the creases.


15. Open 2 pieces up again and taking the corner tips you held before, fold those two tips inward until they touch the center of your paper and crease.  Do the same with the third piece of 4" x 4" except turn it to the opposite side of the paper.  Open them up again and adhere them back down again.  You should now have 2 pieces showing the same paper and 1 piece showing a coordinating paper.


16. Now you will use the mountain and valley technique.  Make a mountain using the piece you want in the middle.  Then, making a valley with each end piece, adhere one section of the mountain into one diamond shaped section of a valley, covering the whole diamond of the valley piece.  Now do the same with the other end.  You now have your pop-up piece.  Check the pictures frequently to compare the steps.


17. Next, open your tag book to the first page.  Fold up your entire pop-up section into one thick square and place one square on the inside front cover of your page and hold that one square on that page while closing your book.  Now hold down the other end to your second page and open the book up again to see the placement of your pop-up section.


18. Once you are happy with where it is placed, make a small mark on your first page.  Adhere one end of your pop-up and place it down firmly on the inside front cover where you have marked it.


19. Folding your pop-up into one thick square again on the inside front cover, use your adhesive on the other end square and keep it held down.  While holding it down, close your second page carefully over your pop-up so that it comes down evenly lined up.  Make sure your holes on your tag pages match up properly.


20. Now, using your Big Shot, cut out the letters you want to use on your pop-up and adhere them to a coordinating color of CS.  Take your paper snips and cut around each letter leaving a little margin around your letters to give them some added pop.


21. Figure out the placement for your letters, folding some of them that will be placed on the pop-up folds.  Don't glue your letters down until you check that they won't stick out of your book once your pages are closed.  Using Dotto to temporarily place them until you know where they should go will help.


22. Use the small star punch on coordinating DSP and CS and adhere them to either end of the pop-up.


23. For your next two pages, here are the measurements I used for the baby announcement and picture backing. 
Pumpkin Pie textured CS:  Cut 2 @ 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" then center and adhere them to pages 3 and 4.
Bashful Blue CS:  Cut 2 @ 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" and adhere them onto the Pumpkin Pie CS pieces.


24. I then used a sticker from the Rock-a-bye-boy (retired) Simply Scrappin' kit on some textured Pumpkin Pie CS.  Since that kit is retired, you can use another baby announcement set or just write it in.  I used Not Quite Navy to stamp "hello baby" onto Bashful Blue CS on the last page.


25. For the belly band I used the following: 
Pumpkin Pie textured CS cut @ 9" x 1 3/4" 
Bashful Blue DSP Patterns cut @ 8 3/4" x 1 1/2".
Center the DSP onto the CS and adhere.  Wrap the band around your book and overlap the ends.  Adhere the ends, making sure not to make it too tight so that you can slip the belly band on and off.


26. Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie textured CS @ 2 1/8" x 1 3/8".  Stamp your text on some Bashful Blue CS and cut around the wording.  Adhere the text to the Pumpkin Pie CS and adhere that part to your belly band.

27. I used Not Quite Navy to stamp the "hugs & kisses" scallop circle onto Bashful Blue CS and then cut around it.  I used the scallop circle punch on Pumpkin Pie CS and adhered it to the "hugs & kisses" piece.


28. The baby (stamp set "All in the Family") was stamped in Basic Black, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the head and body onto Bashful Blue CS.  I used the Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write marker to color the diaper and then cut the baby out.


29. I used the Big Shot to cut out the word "Announcing" in Bashful Blue CS, arranged it to fit the front cover and backed it with Not Quite Navy CS.


30. Finally, cut 7" of Pumpkin Pie striped Grosgrain ribbon to tie the pages closed.  Afterward, trim the ribbon ends and use Fray Check on the ends of the ribbon to avoid fraying. 


You are done!  I hope you enjoyed making your project.

Workshop WOW presentation at St. George Regionals-Sept. 2010

Hello everyone!  Sorry it has taken me so long to get this project on my blog.  I have tried to upload it about a dozen times and have been unsuccessful.  I don't know what the problem is but hopefully this time it will load.

Here is the tutorial and pictures of the projects I presented at the St. George Stampin' Up! regionals.  Hopefully it will work this time!

First I will show all the step-by-step pictures for the birth announcement, and then I will add the tutorial and supply list.  Finally, I will add pictures of the pop-up design using different occasions and holidays.

 Queen Bea Scraps and Barbara V, I need you to give me your email addresses and full names so that I can send them on to Dawn by midnight on the 20th.  She has set that deadline so that she can get everyone entered before UStamp starts.  You will both be sent an invitation for the event (on the 25th I believe) which you will need to accept.  Your acceptance will be confirmed by Dawn, after which you will be able to log on to the UStamp event.  Even after the event is over, you will still have access to the site and the projects for several months.  I hope you will participate in the chat room, the challenges, and more.  There are lots of wonderful, talented, and generous paper crafters who are always excited to meet new members and share their talents.
